Katoen Natie deploys all-electric harbour cranes at Port of Antwerp

· Energy · Belgium

Logistics operator Katoen Natie has put two all-electric mobile harbour cranes into service at the Port of Antwerp, with four more to join them across three deep-sea multipurpose terminals. The completed fleet will include four 200-tonne cranes and two 150-tonne machines, with paired lifting capacity reaching 400 tonnes. The deployment brings electrified cargo handling to one of Europe's largest ports as terminal operators look to cut emissions from port operations.

Why it matters:Ports are a major source of local emissions, and electrifying cargo-handling equipment is a growing lever for terminal operators; deployments at a hub like Antwerp can set a precedent for others.
