Drone strike near Sudan market kills 80
· Security · Sudan
A drone strike near a market in al-Dibab in Sudan's West Kordofan state killed 80 people on Sunday evening, mostly commuters catching rides home, a witness said, in one of the deadliest single attacks of the war that erupted in 2023. A witness said the drone struck twice at the transport hub. A separate drone attack in Khartoum on Monday killed four people, including three children, and rights groups say 160 people have been killed in recent drone strikes across Sudan.
Why it matters:Sudan's civil war is increasingly fought through indiscriminate aerial attacks on civilian hubs, deepening one of the world's worst humanitarian crises.
