Hackers raise blood-storage fridge temperatures in France
· Cybersecurity · France · European Union
Hackers accessed control systems at France's national blood service and boosted temperatures at three cold stores stocking vital blood products, raising temperature and defrosting thresholds to "very high levels," the EFS said. The incident had no impact on blood supplies because staff moved blood to other refrigerators. It is the latest in a series of suspected cyberattacks targeting refrigerators at European supermarkets and comes alongside a reported attack on a French bank that stole around $100 million.
Why it matters:The attacks show how easily connected industrial systems can be turned against public health infrastructure across Europe.
