Ukraine air raid alert app hacked, briefly showed nuclear alert
· Cybersecurity · Ukraine
Ukraine's Air Force said late on Sunday that the public air raid alert app had been hacked and for a short time showed Kyiv and other areas as subject to a nuclear alert. The erroneous alerts were later corrected. The app is used by millions of Ukrainians to warn of incoming strikes. No group claimed responsibility.
Why it matters:A hack of a mass alert system during wartime could cause panic and shows the cyber dimension of the conflict.
