Saudi-led coalition downs Houthi drone; blasts hit Riyadh
· Security · Saudi Arabia · Yemen
The Saudi-led coalition fighting in Yemen said it intercepted and destroyed a drone launched by the Houthis over Saudi Arabia's Medina region, though the Iran-aligned group denied any attack toward the kingdom. Blasts were heard in Riyadh after the Houthis said a Saudi strike killed 12, with the two sides exchanging daily attacks since a years-long truce fell apart over the summer.
Why it matters：The renewed exchanges threaten to widen Yemen's war again and endanger Red Sea and Gulf shipping.
