AstraZeneca pitches Tagrisso-Orpathys combo and Padcev strategy at ESMO
· Health · Spain · United Kingdom
AstraZeneca used ESMO in Madrid to present a possible way for patients with mutant non-small cell lung cancer to keep taking Tagrisso after becoming resistant to the EGFR-targeting drug: combining it with Orpathys. The company also set its sights on Keytruda's position with Padcev, according to Endpoints' roundup of Saturday data from AstraZeneca, Eli Lilly and Bayer. Bayer's Nubeqa was presented in earlier prostate cancer, and Lilly's antibody-drug conjugate was positioned against Elahere. Organizers expect nearly 40,000 delegates over five days.
Why it matters:Strategies to extend the life of a major lung cancer franchise and to challenge entrenched immuno-oncology combos shape near-term revenue expectations for the largest oncology players.
Key points
- The Tagrisso-Orpathys combination targets resistance to EGFR inhibition.
- AstraZeneca is positioning Padcev against Keytruda's use.
