Fox Corp. legal chief Adam Ciongoli exits; Trutanich named general counsel
· Entertainment · United States
Fox Corp. said Chief Legal and Policy Officer Adam Ciongoli will not renew his contract and will step down effective December 1. He will stay on as a special adviser to Fox through June 2028. Nicholas Trutanich, currently executive vice president and principal deputy general counsel, has been promoted to general counsel and will serve as the company's top lawyer, reporting to CEO Lachlan Murdoch. Ciongoli, a former Campbell Soup executive, joined Fox in 2023 and helped steer the company through several lawsuits involving allegations of election falsehoods. The change marks the second turnover atop Fox's legal department in three years, placing a longtime internal executive in charge of its legal strategy.
Why it matters:Leadership of a major media company's legal department matters as broadcasters face continued litigation over election claims and regulatory scrutiny, and the appointment signals continuity from an internal candidate.
