BYD Launches Flagship Han EV With Over 1,000 km Range
· Automotive & EV · China
BYD has begun sales in China of its new flagship electric sedan, the Da Han EV, starting at roughly $35,000. The car is fitted as standard with a 102.3 kWh second-generation Blade Battery and claims a CLTC range of up to 1,008 km (about 621 miles). BYD says the pack can charge from 10% to 97% in just nine minutes. The launch extends BYD's push into the premium end of the domestic EV market, where range and charging speed have become central selling points, while keeping pricing below many imported rivals.
Why it matters:A mass-market Chinese sedan crossing the 1,000 km range mark with ultra-fast charging raises the technology bar for EV makers worldwide and pressures rivals on both range and price.
