Nvidia RTX Spark Laptops Launch, Surface Laptop Ultra From $2,599

· Tech · United States

Microsoft unveiled the Surface Laptop Ultra at a Windows and Surface event in San Francisco, the first in a wave of AI PCs built on Nvidia's new Arm-based RTX Spark chip. Configurations start at $2,599 with an 8-core CPU and 24GB of memory, and pre-orders are now live for machines from HP, Lenovo, Asus, Dell and MSI. The top configurations reach roughly $7,000, positioning the line against high-end MacBook Pros. The laptops are designed to run AI models and agents locally, and arrive alongside a revamped Windows 11. Microsoft framed the push around an idea it calls 'Hybrid Intelligence,' where apps blend on-device and cloud processing, and said Copilot will gain access to local files and the ability to take actions across the operating system.

Why it matters:By moving AI workloads onto Arm-based local silicon at premium prices, Nvidia and Microsoft are testing whether on-device agents can become the default way PCs are sold, which would reshape demand across chipmakers, OEMs and the software ecosystem.
